First, have a good breakfast at a good Portuguese Bakery in Lisbon downtown. We can suggest right by our stop a popular Lisbon pastry shop – “A Padaria Portuguesa” in Rua do Ouro, just 3 minutes from our Caravel on Wheels bus stop or just head to Praça da Figueira and enjoy the historic Confeitaria Nacional. Enjoy Lisbon famous pastry and do not forget our “bica” – our expresso coffee.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”9926″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

#2 Visit the Money Museum – Museu do Dinheiro

Turn left after finishing the tour and visit the Money Museum – O Museu do Dinheiro. Here you will learn more about the money that is in your pocket, about the history of coins and money in the world, and impressive vault that used to keep the Portuguese money safe in the Bank of Portugal – Banco de Portugal. But… there are some peculiar facts… the first that where today is the Money Museum it used to be an important Lisbon Church, and the second the fact that it is built over one of the oldest Lisbon walls remains with over 700 years old –  the King D. Dinis Wall and you can see it at the basement of the Museum, away from the rain! And keep in mind… this is a free museum in Lisbon![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

#3 Nucleo Arqueologico da Rua dos Correeiros

If you are in Rua Augusta – Lisbon most famous pedestrian street – and the rain does not let you appreciate this stroll, why not do it from other perspective and visit what is below Rua Augusta?

Yes, right below one of Lisbon most known banks in Rua Augusta, lies an archaeological museum that preserves remains dating back to the Roman times. A small exposition but quite nice to see, where you will understand more about Lisbon history. On the guided tours to the Núcleo Arqueológico da Rua dos Correeiros you will step below street level, a great activity on a rainy day in Lisbon! And best of all it is free! [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

#4 Visit Lisbon Cathedral – Sé Catedral de Lisboa

If you already planning to visit Lisbon Cathedral – Sé, if it is raining in Lisbon we suggest you visit not only the old Church, but also the Museum it holds!

This is definitely not Lisbon biggest Church but it is the most important church of Lisbon, taking the name of Cathedral… For the Portuguese, the name is quite short and it is known just as “Sé”. Learn more about the Portuguese traditional Catholic devotion on the museum known as Treasure of the Patriarchal and many relics and pieces included in The Liturgical Year Collection while you see the interior of one of the oldest monuments in Lisbon![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

#5 São Roque Museum and Church

Located in the Chiado – Bairro Alto area, the Church of São Roque is a true masterpiece, admired especially due to its many small chapels with many paintings, arts and a lot of decorations in gold. The Chapel of São João Baptista is especially stunning not only by its rich history but also due to the gold that is used abundantly. If you love art and gold pieces you should not miss the museum next to it – the São Roque Museum . It has a magnificent collection of gold pieces, used in several rituals in Catholic Church. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
