Lisbon: Tour Buses are no longer allowed on many areas of Lisbon

Lisbon Tour buses have restricted access to Lisbon city center. Only regular circuit approved by Lisbon City Hall and buses under 10m will be allowed on certain Lisbon old town areas. 

From August 2017 Lisbon City Hall has enforced further restrictions in the circulation of touristic buses in downtown areas. 

The information in July, from Lisbon City Hall confirmed that restrictions were to be in place by August and September 2017 and would mean a restriction on bus circulation in the city center.

Lisbon Cathedral Tour Bus restrictions – Sé

Free circulation is only allowed for Carris (Public Transport Company) buses and touristic buses with an authorized circuit by Lisbon City Hall. And all licensed buses in this area must have a maximum length of 10m.

Bus Circulation Restriction between Rato and Cais do Sodré

From September 1st 2017, the restriction will extend in between Cais do Sodré and Rato, on Rua do Alecrim, Rua da Misericordia, Rua D. Pedro V and Rua da Escola da Politecnica where buses over 10m on occasional services will no be allowed. And restriction also applies to Rua do Tabaco and Rua Terreiro do Trigo.            

Caravel on Wheels Lisbon Tour on Lisbon bus traffic restrictions

We are happy to confirm that Caravel on Wheels Lisbon tour maintains its circuit as it was before. Being a tourist bus circuit already approved by Lisbon City Hall it was therefore allowed to pass through Lisbon Cathedral area and between Rato and Cais do Sodré.

New Signage in Lisbon about tour bus circulation restrictions

In September the new signs have appeared throughout Lisbon and the circulation restrictions are believed to be in place.
